Today everyone embarked on the process of evaluating their own spoken language transcripts in order to find the features of language that made them unique and that were characteristic of spoken conversation in general. This is the same analytical approach as we performed as a class previously so the boys were encouraged to look back at that work to guide their work today.
These transcripts will be used in the actual controlled assessment, which asks the students to explore the creativity of South London youth spoken language and text language (often referred to as “multi-modal” language)
This week is all about practice and preparation for the first English GCSE controlled assessment and a real focus on individual writing and interpretation is vital to students’ success.
“Risk! Risk anything! Care no more for the opinions of others, for those voices. Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth.”
